The Director of Outreach Services has overall responsibility for all Outreach Services programs composed of mental health, alcohol and drug abuse and developmental disabilities. The Director is responsible for proposing a budget and managing program expenditures within Hospital goals and objectives. The program must also establish and maintain appropriate community linkages. An advanced college degree in Social Services or related field – MS or MA Degree. Must demonstrate knowledge of alcoholism and alcoholism treatment in accordance with WAC 388-805. Must demonstrate knowledge of the field of mental health and mental health treatment in  accordance with WAC 388-865. Must demonstrate knowledge of administrative issues affecting community mental health programs and services. Must demonstrate knowledge of administrative procedures and methods necessary to ensure program funding and program compliance with State, Federal and County regulations. Must demonstrate knowledge of relevant State legislation and Washington Administrative Codes. Must provide professional references which indicate good attendance, job performance, professionalism, reliability and ethical behavior consistent with established professional standards and good managerial skills.

 All MHS are responsible for providing clinical treatment services with minimal administrative functions.  The MHS is under the supervision of the Director of Outreach Services, and/or coordinator of program area assigned.  The MHS provides multifaceted mental health services within his/her credentialed areas of expertise.  This may encompass emergency services, information and referral, individual, group and family psychotherapy, consumer support services, community education and consultation services. MHS may qualify by meeting the requirements of WAC 388-865-0150 for any of the additional specialties:  children, elderly, developmental disabilities, minorities, hearing impaired or emergency services.  MSW or MA in behavioral science, social work, nursing sciences or related field from an accredited college or university, or otherwise meeting the requirements of “Mental Health Specialist” under WAC. 388-865-0150.  4 years’ experience applicable to Chronic Mental Illness patients

Emergency Services:  Demonstrate knowledge of the needs and treatment approaches

used in assisting the acutely ill, including assessment and management of suicidal persons and potentially violent persons.

The Social Services Director is responsible for directing the Social Services Program in the Long Term Care Unit and Acute Care.  He/she is responsible for integrating the Social Services Program with other health care programs, for system management and implementation of discharge planning activities. Education: B.A. of Social Work or related field from an accredited School State of Washington Registration to practice Social Work. Eligibility for Mid-Level Practitioner status preferred. Previous experience in Acute Care and Long Term Care preferred. Policy and procedures development preferred. Available to meet with referring agencies. Willing to travel to related service areas to provide service and meet with clients. Attend and participate as active member in community related meetings. Develop referral linkages with community agencies for patient care services, i.e. home health agencies, hospital, nursing homes and DSHS providers.
